Was the Bosch washer an F40 error? This means that there is a power problem.
Modern SMAs are equipped with an advanced self-diagnosis system. It immediately determines the failure at its first manifestation, notifies the user of this, showing the alphanumeric combination on the display. Your task is to notice, decrypt and remove the error.
Today we look at what the F 40 code means and how to troubleshoot the problems that caused it.
Explanation, signs and causes of error F40
The user manual contains all the trouble codes for your Bosch washing machine model. But if the instruction is lost, we will tell you what the F40 error means.
This is a power failure.
There is usually one symptom of an error: the Bosch washing machine does not turn on and does not respond to button presses and program selection.
Main reasons
- Low voltage in the mains. Below 190 watts.
- Knocked out plugs or machine.
- The RCD worked.
Self check: what to do
The cause of the failure in most cases is the power grid. Check out the following points:
- The power is off. As a rule, you will notice this, because the light will disappear in the whole apartment.
- The machine was knocked out. If water was spilled into the outlet, a short circuit could occur, due to which the machine was knocked out. Carefully inspect the machine - it should be in the “ON” position.
- The RCD worked. If you installed an RCD, then it could work by cutting off the flow of electricity. Often this happens due to leakage of electricity to the housing and is accompanied by the fact that the Bosch washing machine is shocking. The UZO could simply be “buggy”, especially if you bought a device made in China, or poor quality wiring was laid.
- Damage to the outlet. Maybe the contact in the outlet itself is broken, so the SMA gives an error F40. Check the outlet using a different device. If the device is serviceable, then the outlet is not interrupted. If there is no suitable electrical device at hand, take a tester or a 220V bulb with the wires connected. You can check the phase with a special indicator screwdriver. If the outlet is working, and the CM shows an error, you need to look for other reasons to solve the problem.
- Often the F40 is lit on the display if the power cord is faulty. Check the cable and replace if necessary. Verification is best done using a tester. Wrap the wire with electrical tape is not recommended.
- Error codes appear due to damage to the extension cord. Often, the connection of the SMA to the network occurs through a conventional power strip - due to the fact that the outlet is far or the power cord is short. Perhaps the breakdown of the filter is to blame for the fact that F40 is displayed on the screen. Check the extension cord and make sure that the machine is operating from a normal power outlet.
The washing does not turn on: additional reasons
If your washing machine does not start, and the trouble codes do not light up, other negative factors and breakdowns may be involved in this:
- Breakdown of the START button. How to fix? Arm yourself with a tester and turn on the buzzer mode on it. Disconnect the machine and ring the power button in two states - “ON” and “OFF”. In the on position, the tester should beep - this means that the button is working. And in the “OFF” position, with a working button, the tester does not beep.
- Damage to the interference filter - FPS. The task of this filter is to suppress electromagnetic waves coming from the SM. This is necessary so as not to cause interference with other equipment that may be nearby.
If the FPS fails, then it does not pass current, which prevents the washing machine from starting. To check the filter is working, you need to remove the top panel of the machine. Filter the tester. If it is broken, you need to change the filter. FPS is often sold immediately with a power cord.
Important! FPS testing requires experience. If in doubt, turn off the power to the machine, remove the wires and check the FPS with a tester, closing one probe on the input phase and the second on the output. FPS should ring. Do the same with "0". If there is a breakdown, change the filter. - Damage to the controller. If none of the above reasons suits you, only one thing remains - a breakdown of the control unit. It’s better not to do it yourself - it requires experience and skills, and do not forget that the board is quite expensive.
Often, resetting errors does not require much effort. Therefore, if the F40 code lights up in the Bosch washing machine, you know what to do.
